About Artist Alley
Artist Alley began as an informal space where artists and other creators alike sold their artworks. This started at conventions, the first known convention to have this type of area was the San Diego Comic-Con in the 1990s. Artist Alley then continued to build its name in the 2000s, where people began to sell a bigger variety of merchandise, such as stickers, buttons, prints, comics, live commissions, and even more. ASLN brings this event to CSUN, hoping to support student, alumni, and other community artists and share their work!

FINDING A MARKET
CONSIDER THE CONTENT OF YOUR MERCHANDISE ACCORDING TO YOUR AUDIENCE
Depending on the location of Artist Alley, there might be different Consumer Bases.
Artist Alleys at the Art Department have a Consumer Base of primarily other artists. They may be more familiar with popular and niche media alike.
Artist Alleys in other areas of campus have a much broader Consumer Base. The general student body may not be familiar with niche media.
Keep this in mind when considering what merchandise to sell, and tailor your art for the Consumer Base’s demands to maximize profits!

-
At the end of the day, please let this be a fun event, ASLN staff always strives to make every event they host fun and allow artists to come out of their shells. Don’t let this event discourage you if you do well or not. This is by no means a way to gauge how good an artist you are
